Hey Bill, I was just talking to someone the other night about the Green Lantern and Bojaks, funny you should mention it. I'm right on the other side of Coatesville from your grandparents old farm, surprisingly, there's still alot of open space there along Rt. 30 but I'm sure not as much as you remember, and I'm sure it won't stay open for long though.[/quote]

Hey Minelabman,
I still have relatives in Coatesville,Modena and a few other places nearby but rarely see them. Sure is a small world. Was talking to my Dad today and he said that dancehall was a huge building and was dilapidated when they bought it in the 30's. I often wonder what's in the ground around that place.
My grandfather operated the farm way back for Bethlehem Steel as they wanted to keep land active and were there when they demolished the big smokestacks. My cousin worked for Lukens Steel and fell 30' off a crane he was greasing and was in a Coma for weeks, i wonder if you remember that incident from a while back.

Hi riki, Yeah i know Roller Coaster Hill all too well and tempted fate more than a few times in cars and on motorcycles and i'm sure one or two of those big gouges in the pavement were MINE

HH Bill

On my last post i meant to say my Grandfather operated a farm on Bethlehem Steel property at the request of Bethlehem Steel and that was prior to buying the farm on Rt 30 Lincoln Highway

Thank you to all the new posters for checking in. I already feel welcome.

Alan,
I only worked as a contractor at the mill for 6 months as it was being bought, they were letting more people go and they were cutting retiree benefits. I handled their fleet of copiers. It was depressing driving around the mill and imagining what it once looked like in it's heyday. I have seen the PBS special. I also was stationed a Chemical Lehman Tank Lines in Lionville (Exton area). Many employees were from your area. Caln is beautiful country. You are a lucky man.

Rikki, I am on the other side of the county just above Phoenixville and Valley Forge. I am originally from Delaware Co. but moved out this way 15 years ago when I got tired of commuting to King of Prussia.

I am going to have to get together with some of you experts as I came home empty handed again on Sunday. I am not frustrated because I know it's me and it will come with the learning my machine. Too many partying teens at the park I like. It is getting cold but beats being indoors. Keep me posted if there are any get togethers. I don't mind driving. I also have a bunch of research of old mills, mines, abandoned towns and places, old map links, RR's etc. that I am willing to share. I am running out of binders. We are in a pretty historic area. Take care!

Big one right down the center is mine...my oil pan is still there too, I'm guessing. Ripped it out good on that run!

I'm game for a get-together...maybe you, me, and Alan can get out some time. I'm home-schooling my son at the moment, so usually he likes to come with me (he's my body guard LOL). As long as I'm home by 2:30 to pick up other kids at the bus stop, I'm good for "all day" outings. Only bad thing is I don't drive so if you know of any good hunting spots in my area??? I can probably get a ride.

CanUDigIt, sounds good about getting together, I won't be able to until the end of the month, but maybe then, me, you and Rikki & Joe, can get out to hunt.

Rikki, gotta watch what Joe and I talk about.....you don't miss a thing .
