Default Howdy from Bama!

Hello all,

I am very new to the metal detecting world and in search of any information on the subject I found this website. Just reading thru the posts I am very impressed at the friendliness of this forum.

What got me started? Well, my family and I was watching “This Old House” on television. On the show they were in the process of rebuilding an old barn (I think) as a house. It was somewhere in the North East but I don’t remember where. A gentleman walked up and asked if he could run his metal detector around the lot and as a way of showing his thanks, he would give the new owners any “treasures” he found. At the end of the show he had found several items and had them in a shadowbox for display. My son loved the idea of finding buried treasure and hasn’t stopped talking about wanting a metal detector. BTW he is eight years old.

After spending a couple of days on the internet and especially reading the posts on this site, I realize that a “toy” detector is not going to do. With the feeling that I know enough to ask some semi-intelligent questions, I grab the phone and call KellyCo. I spoke to Steve and thirty minutes later I have taken the plunge. I have ordered an ACE 250 for me and my boy. Well that’s the good news, I guess, the bad news is that it is a Christmas present and it is going to kill me not to open it up as soon as it arrives.

I look forward to learning this sport with my son and to all the treasures we will find.

Tim

Default Welcome

WELCOME to the TQ FAMILY TIM ! You made a really great choice in detectors. I would not be without my 250. It is really a coin magnet. Getting the detector and getting out will be a blast BUT the best thing is that you get to share it with your Son...THAT IS PRICELESS !
If you need anything...JUST HOLLER.

Welcome from Colorado! You can always buy another machine to use now - and your son still gets his Christmas present!
