Welcome to TQ, Jerry! We have a lot of great information and very knowledgable members who can answer most any question you might have so don't be shy to pitch one out!

Combining ham radio with detecting should be a neat project. I suspect you travel quite a bit so that should save you some time on research.

Saw you profile. Interesting occupation! Around here, a cut specialist is a detectorist who looks for eroded areas of the beach where the waves have left a small cliff!
