Welcome sabresfan,
As far as the 1000.00 detectors goes, I couldn't tell ya. I'm swingin a CZ5 and a bh Land Star. I love theCZ5 and I really never thought that much of upgrading. My buddy has a sovereign SE and he swears by it. Just see what info others offer up here, and stop in by your nearest md store and try a few on for fit and feel.

Welcome, Dan! Tinman's advice is very sound...the high-end machines offer a lot - but until a person knows his or her machine - and what it's saying - there is really no competitive edge...

Happy Hunting!

Hello 'E', thanks for the welcome. I found some old coins on the beach banks after a hurricane came through and washed away the dune faces. the dunes were 6 to 8 feet high and the waves took away half lf them and left like a cliff face to hunt. Otherwise the beach has been loaded with 'new' sand and they are building million dollar houses all along there now. There used to be an amusement park in the early 1900's till they took it down in the 80's. I've hunted what's left of the undisturbed ground and found some wheaties.

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I have gotten used to my detector. I set it to block out iron and pull tabs etc. It has multitone and an indicator of what's in the ground so that helps. I've been back to sites I searched when I first bought it and have found much more now that I can get the 'feel' of what i hear. I found 2 rings that I passed over previously as I thought they were trash!
