thanks to all for the warm welcome. I will be out hunting the area tommorrow maybe, if weather permits. I will post any good finds i make. I've been eyeing a dogwalking park in the area and may go check it out.

Hello Dan:
Welcome aboard...I am in Syracuse, NY here...I went to school for the Army near Norfolk, VA (Ft. Eustis -Helicopter Mechanics). Some of the $1,000 detectors are great (White's DFX, the Tesoro's, Minelab Explorer SE)...It is a personal preference...I will keep my Bounty Hunter Land Star for what I hunt right now...My area and hunting styles do not warrant the cost of a $1,000 detector right now (Not much to find in my area really-I need to get over to the Mohawk Valley area or something...lol). There are a group of great folks on here with much knowledge and advice to give...Enjoy, and post often. rlemp
