HI Joey and WELCOME to TQ :santa1:! If you don't have a Detector yet then talk to our Sponsors here and they can help you with what ya need according to your hunting preferince. If ya have one already then let us know what your using as those on TQ that use the same detector will be better able to help you. There are a Lot of GREAT Folks here that will help ya any way they can so ask all the questions ya want. Make sure to check out the other forums on the Home Page as you will find all kinds of Info there to especially the detectors forum about specific Brands and models.
If you want to PM me with an address, I have an Extra copy of " How To Find Lost Treasure " by Charles Garrett. I would be happy to send it off to you as it may help as an on hand reference. Sounds like ya have a great place to start. Whatever detector your using just remember to read and reread your manual, Practice, Practice and Practice some more till ya learn the language of your detector and what it's tellin ya. GOOD LUCK & HH !
