Greetings and Salutations to All,
I live in Houston, TX and have been an avid reader about Texas legends, lore and treasure. I thought about getting into treasure hunting or even just a little metal detecting. A person in my family has a small ranch outside of Crockett, TX so I thought about doing my first hunting up there. Any reccomendations for a first-time treasure hunter would be welcome. Thank you and Happy Holidays to each and every one of you.:christmaswreath: |

Welcome to TQ, Joey. Sounds like you have a good place to hunt. The best thing that I can suggest is that you hunt in "squares", starting near entrances and where people walked. If you take the time to hunt in a methodical way, you will be sure not to miss anything, or at least very little.
A square about 10 feet by 10 feet is a good size to start. Finish it a nd move to the next square. That way, you know where you left off if you have to come back later. Take a look at our metal detecting tips section and don't be afraid to ask a question. Good luck and hope to hear about all the finds you make!

Welcome, Joey. You should find some good stuff where you are heading. Dig all targets. Even if it is trash. Rings and such can read out as pull tabs. Happy Hunting...Buster.....

Hi and welcome to TQ, alot of helpful and friendly people here!
If you haven't gotten a detector, like was mentioned, let us know what you're looking for in one and the price you're able to spend, and also, talk to our sponsors, they're familiar with most detectors and can give you the information that you need to make a decision.
