Default I have been enjoying this forum....

I have been interested in MDing for more years than I can remember. I have talked about it a time or two over the past few years with my wife. Santa must have been listening in and left a new Ace 250 under the tree this year. I feel like a little kid with a new toy fire truck.
I spent hours watching the instructional DVD and read the owners manual cover to cover about four times. I can't wait to try this out on my property. My house is on a river outside of town near the end of the Oregon Trail. The house was build in the early 1900's and the property should have some interesting things lurking just under the surface.
After hours of testing and fiddling around with the Ace I took it outside for a fast sweep before dinner last night. The unit sounded off left and right. It was dark and really wet so I only dug a few holes but I was successful! I found a nail. A really cool nail. Not your everyday run of the mill nail.... This one was rusty and bent. Wow. I kept it. It will be charished as my "first" find.
I have read a lot of posts on this forum and picked up a bunch of good tips and information. I will post again soon with my progress.

Hi Luke and welcome to TQ.....Congratulations on the nail, it sure sounds like a one of a kind, it's going to take something really special to beat that first find .

WooHoo! Merry Christmas to you. I bet you were so excited to find the nail. My very first find was a dime! It only gets better.

I have a suggestion, if your machine is sounding like Las Vegas. Turn down the sensitivity a notch or two until it stops sounding off. Metal Detectors react to minerals in the soil.

Good luck! Can't wait to see and hear about your finds.

Thanks for the (fast) warm welcome Arkwater, gordiesgirl and Minelabman. I think I spent more time reading posts on this site than doing my "job" today. I am hooked pretty bad. I am sure you will hear from me often with questions.

Thanks pris. I will work with the sensitivity a little this weekend. It has been raining non-stop so I hope I get a chance to do some serious hunting.
