Default Returning to an old passion

Hello,

Finally decided that at age 43 I am going to get back into metal detecting. I spent time through my childhood in a town called Thebes in Southern Illinois seeking buried treasure with my grandfather. I really don't remember if we found anything of value though.

If anyone is in the Chicagoland area I would really like to learn of a club, or places that are of interest for our kind. If anyone can steer me in a good direction for a metal detector, I would like that as well. I will most like be working in this area mostly for coins and such.

Glad I found this group.

Toadfish

Hey, Toadfish! Welcome to TQ! As for a detector, that depends on your budget. A lot of folks here like the Garrett Ace 250 and soem upgrade it with a Sniper coil that seems to improve the overall results. Do yoour research and let us know your budget.

Anyways, pull up your deskchair and take a look around. We have a lot of great info to offer and help available from our community.
