Default New member~any advise on what machine to get?

HI there! I am new to the forum and in the process of thrying to figure out which mach ti purchase. I am interested in land and water. I want to hit some of the local lakes and the "beaches" there. I want the ability to wade out into the water, and not worry about the machine. Eventually I want to become a certified diver and try the underwater world. Does nay one have suggestions on machines? I am not looking to spend a whole lot on my first one, but know that it will probably be in the $500-$700 range. I have looked at Tesoro Tiger Shark, and some of the Whites and Garrett. Any comments or feedback? Thank you!

Welcome to Treasure Quest. I use a White's XLT for my dirt digging and a Tiger Shark for the water. JC

Hi goldseeker, WELCOME to TQ ! Talk to our Great Sponsors here as they can help ya out according to your needs. Ya say ya want to go in the water as well as land and Ya want to do some diving later so Ya want a GOOD Underwater Machine. The Tesoro Tiger Shark get alot of Great reviews. There are also The Minelab Excals wich I hear alot of Positive feedback on and the whites Beachunter ID and The New Fisher CZ21 and so on. Are ya Goin Salt water or Fresh or Both and once Ya start diving, How deep Ya plan on going ? A Top end Machine will probably take Ya in the $800.00 to $1,200.00 range depending on Exactly what Ya want to do. I'm sure alot of others will chime in and tell ya what they are using and the good and bad obout them. Example... The Beachhunter ID Has a great following BUT the stock coil in NOT a Zero bouyancy so it will tend to float in the water, Now you can get the 12" Spider coil that the Whites service center in Virginia will put on and not effect the warranty, Total cost with Detector and Spider coil with the modification $ 1,000.00. I assuming Ya don't want a PI detector as Ya want to do land hunting so You'll want something with some form of discrimination. This is where talking to the Sponsors comes in as there are so many Variables . They may have a Pre-Owned of Demonstrator model still with Warranty wich could save Ya some cash. The ONE piece of advise I would tell Ya for sure is STAY away from the Cheaper Chinese made detectors and beware of buyin Online such as with E-bay. The Sponsors will still be there long after the sale and are always on hand if ya have a problem. You are now in the Twilight Zone faze of Wich detector is best for me. Take your time, Research and ask alot of questions to wich thats what We are here for. There are a lot of Great and Knowledgeable Folks Here that will help Ya out any way they can. Glad Ya found us and a Good way to start your New Year. Hope this helps a little and didn't add to the confusion.
Whatever Ya get, GOOD LUCK & HH !

TH TINMN
