I have had the XLT down as far as 7 inches I think..Still good..we will wait for the 250 gang to tell about the depth in theirs. You can't go wrong with either one.....Buster....

Well I went to a local dealer and held and demo'd the ace 250, very nice worked wonderful, very impressed. Then I made the mistake of picking up the DFX......the number one difference that I noticed right away was the weight balance difference... SO....After that I decided im going with the Ace 250 for a few weeks till I get the hang of it then going with the Dfx. Also gonna pick up the vibraprobe 750 and some other goodies... Once again thanks for all your suggestions and again Great Website...
Oh yeah ive got four little girls here also that are all begging for a ace 250, So ill pass it on down the line.... OR heck maybe just keep it for myself as a backup unit....
cant wait to start digging....Guess I better call Kellyco 1st!

Also in a few months will be traveling to N. California in the Sonoma area to inlaws 1000 acre ranch to do some hunting,,,any experienced hunters in the area let me know and lets spend some time digging....

Default A Wise Decision, RippedHog

Back in the 70's I had a Whites and didn't use it much, mainly my younger brother used it. A few years ago a buddy got me back into detecting and I wound up with an ACE250 and I couldn't believe how far the technology had advanced. After a few months I wanted to get into underwater detecting so I did my research and took the plunge, bought an Excalibur 1000 by Minelab. (one of the best underwater detectors on the market) The ACE250 really helped to ease the transition from that old Whites to the Excal. I've never looked back.
One step at a time is a smart move.

Good hunting to you,

BDA
