Default I Finally made It.....

Hey yall... Dave here from N. Texas around Denton area. When I was a little boy my grandpa got me a whites metal detector. Never really used it much, BUT now YEARS later the bug wont stop itching away at me. Unfortunelty I dont have the whites anymore. Ive been itching at this bug for over 2 years now and need to pursue it. Im sure this topic has been asked 10,000 times, BUT, Im the kinda guy who likes to have the best thing there is to have. BUT im not too sure on this. I think I want to get a good detector lower priced for now and see if I really am gonna do this. I see yall say the Ace 250 is nice.... I really want the whites DFX.. What to do? any suggestions or ideas would be grealty appreciated. Also is there anyone around this area that I could meet with and chat about detecting? Thanks again and THANKS for the awesome website!!!!! Oh yeah, Nice to meet yall!!!!

Welcome to TQ! I know there are some members in TX, but not sure if they are close.
Most likely you will end up with 2 or 3 machines before its all said & done. Again, welcome & feel free to ask any questions you may have, always someone here to help.

Welcome to TQ Rippedhog! I am new to MD'ing and have a ACE250 and love it. It is very easy to learn, has lots of features and it won't break the bank. I do see myself getting a higher end machine in the future and plan to pass the ACE down to my son.

Welcome to Treasure Quest Rippedhog. Like Arkwater said there are a few from the Texas area . Check on the members list..As for a detector..The Ace 250 seems to be the one that a lot of hunters use. It is tried and true and very easy to use. I myself use an XLT which is close to the DFX. I like it and have used mine for about 10 years.. I can change programs and other settings and it works for me. I would check some back posts on some detectors and read up. Any way welcome again to this site....Buster....

I agree with JC...If you can afford it - go for it!!!! I am using the DFX and it is a wonderful machine...I wouldn't trade it for the world...(Maybe a million bucks, then I could get me another one)
Been using it for a few years now and is an excellent detector. It is like the energizer bunny...it just keeps on going going and going!!!

Have been in the Denton area...few hrs away...good hunting in your area!!!

Welcome to the site!!!

Welcome to the site! Glad you have joined up. The DFX is a sweet machine for sure. Do you have a dealer near you to go look at them? If I was spending the big bucks I would like to do a test run of it.

I do wish you good luck with your choice, Beale.

Welcome to TQ, Ripped! You have a tough choice to make but in the end, I am sure you will make the choice that is right for you.

Do your research, take the other opinions into account, figure out how much time you can dedicate to hunting and go for it. Spring is coming and you want to get out there and start the year off right!

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Hey Rippedhog, WELCOME to TQ . You will get a lot of opinions on that question. As was said If Your Gonna put out the BIG Bucks then DEFITNATELY You want to put one in Your Hands and be able to Try It Out. My 1rst Suggestion would be to Talk to Our Sponsors Here as They Will take the Time to Listen to Exactly what kind of Hunting Ya want to do, Where Your Going to Hunt..ie Land, Wet and or Dry Sand, Water Plus what kind of Ground Conditions Ya will be dealing with and alot of other variables as was mentioned to How Much Detecting Ya gonna do and so on and so forth. Now this is just Me, The DFX is a GREAT Detector And It is one You can grow into but it will take some time to do so as there is Sooo Much it can do. When I started Thats what I bought and I made some nice finds with it But I was frustrated to as for me Personally it was To Much for Me at that Stage. Whites makes GREAT Detectors and High Quality Build, You may also want to Check out the XLT or MXT wich are pretty much on the same level as The DFX but maybe a little easier to get to know. If you want to start with a lower end Detector, The Ace 250 is a HOT One and has a lot of users here. Also there ARE other Detectors in the Mid-Range in Price that may be a Great comprimise to wich you may not have to Upgrade as soon like you may feel after getting a lower end detector. This is what I call the Twilight Zone of Detecting when your trying to Decide what Detector to Get. There are Soooooo Many to choose From and so Many different abilities they all have. My Bottom Line to You would Be Research what Your lookin for Check out the different Metal detecting Forums on the Home Page here, ASK Alot of Questions and don't be shy cuz thats what we're here for and Happy to help Ya out in any way. and Again.. TALK TO OUR SPONSORS ! The Choice is Yours and therein lies the Dilema as there sre So many Choices. If Your willing to take the time to learnand I mean really learn The DFX then You'll Have a killer weapon as I believe if there was a Program for it , you could probably make it Fly. The More Versetile the Detector, The More of a Learning Curve. Patience is the Key with your detector and with this Hobby and the Really Great finds. TAKE YOUR TIME and ASK QUESTIONS and You'll end Up with what Ya Need. AS Said this is my own Opinions and You'll get alot more wich is Good. The More Info You Have the Better. Whatever Ya get GOOD LUCK & HH !
