Default Need advice

My wife & I are avid explorers and we are thinking about getting a metal detector to add a new dimension to our searches. Is it possible to purchase a good detector for less than $200 or would it not give us any worthwhile results? If there are any that are in that price range that someone could recommend, we would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hello & welcome to TQ!

The Fisher F2 can be had for $199
Or the Garrett Ace 250 for $212

Both are excellent machines & a good value.

Check with our sponsors & I'm sure they can fix you up!

Default Welcome to TQ, Octavio.

I started with an ACE250 and it is a great little machine that is easy to learn for a beginner. If you decide that you like this hobby you can trade up to a more specialized machine and use your finds to pay for it.

Cheers,

BDA

Hello, and welcome to Treasure Quest. I own an Ace250 and it is an excellent machine to own. Many professional hobbyist's with very advanced machines have purchased an Ace250 because of the great reviews it receives. It is an inexpensive detector (in the metal detecting world) with many advanced features. It is very easy to learn and it is definately a "coin magnet" as many call it.

I have only recently heard of the F2 and have inquired about it. It does cost a few dollars less than the Ace250 and from the reviews I have read on it, there are many features I really like about it as well as other features I do not care for. I am still interested in testing one out myself, since it is a detector made to compete with the Ace250.

Good luck with whatever machine you decide to purchase. I'm hoping you will have lots of finds to share pictures with us here at TQ.
