Hi, just wanted to briefly introduce myself. I’ve been poking around the TQ site for a few days now just taking things in and debating whether I wanted to get involved in a forum or not. Up until now I’ve always felt virtual associations to be a little removed even prophylactic if you’ll forgive the expression. But here at TQ I’m finding a treasure-trove of information and people that seem genuinely interested and supportive of one another. I guess common interests tend to bring out the best qualities in folks. Hey why not! I live in Sonoma, Northern California and while I’ve done a little detecting in the past I never really jumped into the hobby with more than a fleeting interest and a satisfactory machine. Too busy working the business or just caught up in a routine that’s monopolized my time for far too long. I’m kicking myself really in that Sonoma and its surrounding areas are rich in history and opportunity making for some choice detecting sites. My little town boasts the last and most northerly of the Spanish Missions (founded in 1823), complete with fort and soldiers’ barracks. While there are no colonial ship wrecks off the local coast or Revolutionary War relics to be had, the neighboring waters were frequented by English & Spanish explorers, Russian traders and the like who all left their mark on the local coastline in one form or another. There’s no telling what might have been dropped or washed up on the beaches over the last four centuries. If these leads don’t pan out then the streams of the nearby sierra foothills likely will…enter the Whites MXT Prospecting Mode. Yep! I just went into hock for a new MXT now on route to my doorstep. If it isn’t obvious, I’m chomping at the bit for this little beauty to arrive; and not until Wednesday! The next three days are going to be torture.
Ah well, soon enough. ¡Cálmate! As they now say in California. I remember something Zen about that lazy base-tone droning away through the headphones and what’s more something transcendent about that lively jump in pitch that would help bring some of the magic back into this boys’ life…Looking forward to sharing a few tips and telling some large tales with rest of you good folks. |
