I just thought I'd better introduce myself to everyone since I've been hidin in the shadows for a few days now just checking things out here. Seems to be another great place to meet good people and learn a lot about this great hobby?(more like an addiction with me!) I hail from NE Pa.,married,no kids, just our boxer Jessie, and have been detecting for just about 2 years now. I spend a LOT of time on forums, reading books, researching old maps, buying misc.detecting stuff, testing and getting to know my detectors and coils(I have 5 detectors already...kinda scary isn't it?),plus a little actual detecting of course;when I have time! I just love diggin up stuff not knowing exactly what it will be until it's there! I love finding anything old and I almost feel a connection to whoever used to own and then lost the item. I often wonder how it came about it ended up where I found it. I wish I knew more about a gold ring I found in my yard;it's got to be WAY older than my house (1939). I would guess it to be mid/late 1800's but don't know how to tell. Maybe an old local jeweler could tell from the markings. Any old wise jewelers out there? Well anyways,I'm starting to ramble on so I'll end this for now. Anyone in the area who wants to go dirtfishin',just drop me a line sometime. JD
