Default Scrounged some Beach Hunter ID Tips and Tricks from my Mate, Beach Hunter.

OK, from previous posts some great tips and tricks!!!

all metal mode use the ID lights to dig or not....any little blink in the red light don't dig..dig all yellow or green and combo targets(ones that give yellow+green together...running it this way gives better depth and better hits on small gold.....use a coil cover and rub the sand with your swings...dig any faint targets that are repeatable even if you don't get the lights to blink..put coil in hole after scooping some sand out recheck id lights. if you learn this detector well you'll be amazed what it can do...good hunting!!hope this is helpful!!

This was given to me by my friend who owns the local metal detecting store. A customer was playing around & found this, & it works. GOOD LUCK
1. turn on BHID&go through the normal set up (steps 2 through 4
2.set sens to pre-set with mode switch in disc mode
3. turn threshold control to faint threshold
4.set mode switch to all metal mode & ground balance machine normally
5.after ground balancing & while still in the all metal mode turn sens to max. the threshold will change to a high shrill.
6.hit the reset to return to normal threshold.
7.return to the all metal mode & re-do the ground balance. there will be a narrower window within which to balance at this time.
8.leave the mode switch in all metal mode & begin hunting. there will be a marked improvement in depth.
9. NOTE. there will no longer be tone identification between the targets. however the target identification lights will still be accurate.

Quick steps for setting the BHID all metal mode
(1) With unit off turn sensitivity to 'P' mark
(2) Put GB (Ground balance) to middle position (1/2 way from least to most
(3) Put toggle in all metal mode then set a slight threshold
(4) Lower coil to detecting height 1" above the ground and slowly pump the coil up and down from detecting height to about 4"off the ground while listening to the sound as it changes. The best setting is when you hear no real change or increase in volume.
(5) If the volume increases, slightly lower the GB (to the left) If the threshold decreases, slightly adjust the GB to the right until a smooth threshold is heard.
(6) When you hear no change or close to it, the machine is properly ground balanced.
(7) I leave it and hunt in all metal as you still have the target lights identifying the objects from Iron to coins.
( Don't forget to GB when going from the dry sand to the wet sand and water (very important)!!!
(9) If you can't get a stable threshold, you'll need to lower the sensitivity and re-adjust the GB until you can run it pretty smooth. This will take experimenting as each location is different and unique with salt and black sand mixtures. If you can get a smooth threshold with the "sensitivity" at the (P=preset mark) then slowly increase it until it's just unstable or falsing, then back it down until somewhat smooth and run it hot like that if you can. Remember, every time I make changes I re-ground balance the machine for best operation.

Cheers,

BDA
