Default newbie needing advice

hey all-

i am new to MDing and want to get my wife a MD for our anniversary. she's wanted one for years. we live in hawaii so one that works on the beach is a must. i would like one that at least has a waterproof coil on it so we can search in the waves. we also might go on the solid ground, too. my budget is about $200. i am in the military so the pay isn't that great. lol. i apoligize if i have gotten any of the terminology wrong in this post. not used to all of it yet. i'm sure there is someone out there laughing at my post right now.thanks in advance for all the advice. i've read some posts and am very happy to find such a welcoming community.

Default welcome aboard

not sure here but i think you might want to look at the Garrett Ace 250. should be able to find it right around that price range and from what i have seen people say about it, it would be an excellent choice for someone starting out and it works as well as some of the more expensive models. whatever you choose, good luck on the hunts and take er easy. cory

I use a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV, it is great and will run you around $140 with shipping....it has a waterproof coil and I use it on the beach and everywhere else. It is easy to operate and I have found alot of great stuff with it. click on this link for more info: Metal detecting and metal detectors for treasure hunting by Bounty Hunter

Good Luck

Welcome to the site Lando! We are glad you dropped in. I also want to thank you for your service to the country!

The Ace 250 and Fisher F2 both fall into your price range. They both will do what you are looking to do. Give one of our sponsors a call and ask about the 2 units.

The Ace gets talked about much more it has been around for a while longer. I know we have quite a few folks using that unit and doing very well.

Good luck with your choice, Beale.
