Hi There and Welcome to the TQ family. I live in SC so I don't have any advice to specific places but if you are just starting out, Tot Lots, City Parks, Schools, old houses, Fairgrounds, Fleamarkets, and recreation areas are great places to start. Not sure how close you are to the beaches but they are awesome to hunt too. Whatever you do..... if you choose to hunt places which aren't public including Fleamarkets.... do get permission first.

I'm sure others will chime in with advice for ya. Hope you stick around and do some posting of your finds. Wishing you much success in your hunts.

Welcome to TQ! Sonja has mentioned some very good areas to kick-off your treasure hunting expeditions...I'd also suggest you try hunting the grass strips between the street and sidewalks...usually a lot of clad in those areas...in older neighborhoods, it's not uncommon to find some nice older coins.

Places where they are tearing up old sidewalks in order to replace them - as well as places where they are demolishing older homes are excellent places to hunt...provided you get there before the new sidewalks are poured or before they bulldoze and haul away all the old topsoil!

Good luck and Happy Hunting!

Hey Chris you have gotten some good ideas. I also like to hit ball fields. If you have a multi use field that people use for games, track, etc. Those are great. Old swimming holes or boating areas will do good also.

The more you hunt the more you start to notice areas. I used to think I did not have many spots at first. Heck now I am finding all kind of areas, Beale.
