Default very new & inexperienced

Hi !
I've wanted a metal d forever and my husband got me one this year for my birthday. Now I just have to figure out how to use it.
I have a seriously painful connective tissue disease so climbing and bending are very difficult. Does anyone know the best places to start looking ? Do you know any great areas in Williamson County , specifically Georgetown, Round Rock, Hutto, Taylor ?
Thanx!
Lori :)

Welcome to TQ Lori. I know nothing about Texas, but wish you well in your hunts.

Hey Lori, welcome to TQ, I also am new and inexperienced, but everyone here is so nice and wonderful. Good luck with your hunting, I too still don't know where to hunt besides my parents property in my back yard.

Hello and welcome to TQ.

According to Google Earth, it looks like there's a few baseball fields around Hutto. You might try them. If you have a fairgrounds around there, that might be a good place to start too. Good luck and take easy on the body.

Oh ... I just noticed that there seems to be a racetrack there, too. Try under the grandstand.

Ohh, baseball fields, great idea ! And I bet Sunday mornings are good times to go search them. Someone told me recently to always keep a low profile.
Thanx so much for all the friendly replies . I'm still trying to figure out this forum , I noticed alot of you put in your "finds" . Is there a trick to doing that or do I just write it in. Course....so far I've only found a hot wheel, 1 penny and a few nails. :)

And one more VERY important tip... especially if you're a female, but it holds true for all of us. Stay aware of your surroundings. Especially, if there are no other people around.

Enjoy your new hobby and wait till you find your first old silver coin or piece of jewelry. You'll be hooked...

Hi Lori! Well - you hail from my old neck of the woods...worked for Dell Computer Corp. in Round Rock....took flying lessons at the airport in Georgetown...ran around all over the area...but UNFORTUNATELY for me - I wasn't into MD'ing at the time! I would have to think that all of those cool old towns (Hutto, Taylor, etc. ) would have great opportunities...I'd begin by checking out the parks...ask for permission to hunt around the old homes...and remember ALL of those towns used to have a train station / platform. Those would be good areas in which to look...another place that I planned to hunt the next time I'm in the area is a place called Hamilton Pool (do you know that area?) Thousands of people used to go there every year to jump off the bluff into the natural pool below...However, Hamilton Pool is on the SW side of Austin...so quite a drive for you.

Let us know how you do - and Happy Hunting!
