Beale - I really do appreciate the offer on the gear, but will pass. Think I have some stuff around that I can use plus I have a birthday coming up May 1st. I'm sure the wife will get me some things I am going to need.

Hi, Nexus, and welcome to TQ! We have a lot of good information for you. The response to your question was spot on.
I hope you take a look around and participate in anything that appeals to you. We have a lot of unique features that are created and supported by the generosity of volunteer members and sponsors, who make great things happen here! Don't be afraid to ask anything that comes to mind but also check out the info available about any particular model on our Metal Detector Review Forum. (It's locatred about 2/3's of the way down the Forum Main Page. In Bold print. You can also put yourself on our "Buddy Map" , located in the "Members Announcements" area, just above this one on the main page. It's the first post inside that area. Our International Virtual Treasure Hunt starts on the 10th, I think. Our monthly Group Buy is an interesting way to pick up new equipment or accessories from one of our sponsors. Enjoy and welcome to TQ! ![]()

Hi Nexus and welcome to TQ, looks like you already found out that there's alot of helpful and friendly people on here.
Just a few things I can add. If you're sure you'll really like detecting, go ahead and buy a new one of whatever price you're comfortable with, or if you're not sure, the ACE and F2 are low enough priced that you may just want to take a chance with them, not a great loss if you find that detecting isn't for you. Or you may just want to try the White's out, this way, you'll have a better idea of what features you want in a detector and will be able to make the right decision when you're ready to buy a new one. Just my opinion. Good luck in whatever you decide!

Hello there and welcome to TQ! It's great to have you here. I hear so many times on here that the F2 and the Ace250 are good detectors for the money but..... as a user of the Ace250 I have to say it's one great metal detector. Not only is it great on the beach, great coin magnet, but it sure has been finding myself alot of jewelry lately. I am not over exagerating here either. Just today, went hunting with my husband and two other couples from this board and ALL of them were using a Whites Detector.... Well... the Ace Spoke, LOL. I'm not bragging on me.... but I am bragging on the Ace250. I brought home a nice fat bracelet (trying to determine if silver or white gold) and a nice FAT mens Sterling Silver ring. It's found me about 7 rings since Nov and not to mention, a load of clad!
I don't know about the F2 as I have not used it nor been hunting as of yet with anyone using one. I do know that no matter what you choose, You will definately have to get to know the detector and their tones. The sniper coil makes it easier to distinguish WHICH target to dig. Even with the sniper coil being so small, it can still sound off a few targets at once. The sniper coil helps you to locate the target you are wanting to dig by seperating the targets on the ground. If you get an Ace250, make sure you order this coil too... as it's really good for the trashy areas, just like everyone has said. Good luck, no matter what you choose!

Hi Nexus, welcome to TQ...TQ is a very very warm family for sure...
Ya,I would recommend that you go for a Ace250 unit...and order the sniper coil as they have said as well...you will definitely get back your investment real soon...(just my opinion though)... Good luck no matter what you choose...
