Topographical Maps are Great to Use & study. Is there an Historical Society you can visit and talk to. Remember to ALWAYS get Permission and Follow the Treasure Hunters Code of Conduct. Check out all the different Forums on the HomePage here as you will find all kinds of Info that will help You. It can be fun & rewarding and can give you great insight into hitory and Geography, Different Cultures and Countries and so much more. It can get Frustrating at times when you just start out as well as when you've been at it for a looooong time. In other words everyone has Good days and Bad days. Welcome to TQ, try this.
Rick Quote:
Go to your local historical society and ask for a town or community’s “fire insurance maps” or the Sanborn maps as they were described to me. With these you can see what and where everything was located in that particular year. 1880 and 1879 are the dates of the two I have to explore if summer ever comes. MD’in where the Saloons, Hotels, Stores and oh yeah the Brothels once stood. Knowing where these places were I think will help my chances of finding something neat. I hope this helps in your hunting.
