HI MistaElvis and WELCOME to TQ ! The Ace 250 will be a Great detector for You. When Your Ready, Talk to our Sponsors here at TQ and they can help Ya out. As everybody else has said.. Start in your Yard and Play lots and Parks if they allow It. Learn what your detector is saying to you and practice, practice and practice some more. The Library, Old family members and Neighbors and friends. You'll be Suprised how much the Old Folks will be willing to go back in Time and part with Invaluable info if you just get in a friendly conversation with them. Topographical Maps are Great to Use & study. Is there an Historical Society you can visit and talk to. Remember to ALWAYS get Permission and Follow the Treasure Hunters Code of Conduct. Check out all the different Forums on the HomePage here as you will find all kinds of Info that will help You. Ask all the Questions You want cuz thats what we are here for.
It's always Great to see some young person get into this Hobby. It can be fun & rewarding and can give you great insight into hitory and Geography, Different Cultures and Countries and so much more. It can get Frustrating at times when you just start out as well as when you've been at it for a looooong time. In other words everyone has Good days and Bad days. But even the bad days can be Valuable if you take something out of it. Glad to have You Here.

If you’re interested in finding old town sites or ghost towns as they existed back in the day. Here is what you need. They are called Sanborn Maps. The Sanborn & Perris Map Co.

Go to your local historical society and ask for a town or community’s “fire insurance maps” or the Sanborn maps as they were described to me.

With these you can see what and where everything was located in that particular year. 1880 and 1879 are the dates of the two I have to explore if summer ever comes.
MD’in where the Saloons, Hotels, Stores and oh yeah the Brothels once stood. Knowing where these places were I think will help my chances of finding something neat.

I hope this helps in your hunting.

Rick
