Default Howdy from the Florida panhandle...

Just wanted to say "Hi" to all, I have been reading a lot of posts like a sponge. I ordered my Garret Ace 250 today...Mr. Buster (we work together) recommended the Ace 250 as it seems so does every other person on this forum. Anyway, I cant wait. I'm excited and have actually scouted out several locations already. I guess it helps that the town I live in is a few hundread years old (Milton, FL) . I'm a retired U.S. Marine, am into Harley Davidson's, Jeeps and the like. I do enjoy the outdoors and have cabin fever from our short winter here. I look forward to getting out and looking for all kinds of stuff. I'm excited because I always wanted to detect since I was a kid but never did. My wife is even excited for me. I will patiently accept all information as I have zero experience. I have been all over the world (a few times) and wish I had been able to do this in the far reaches of Rome, Jerusalem and even Iwo Jima...oh well; I can start very soon. Wish me luck and don't get all wrapped around the axle if I seem to ask too many newbie questions...

Semper Fi,
Rick

Hi, Ric-san and welcome to TQ! You are in good company if you're a friend of Buster's! (Hope you like Spam!)

Looks like you are already doing all the right things. Take a look at portraitartist's thread in "Metal Detector Tips" and go back to it after you get some quality time with your machine. I've been hunting for almost 4 years and I learned a few new tricks from reading that.

As schoser said, you're in the right place to get started in this hobby.
