Welcome to Treasure Quest! I recommend the Ace 250 for anyone who is beginning the hobby of metal detecting. It is great for finding coins and with the optional sniper coil, will find you tons of hidden coins in the midst of trashy area's.

Just this afternoon I brought my Ace 250 to my cousins house and he and his 9 year old son were detecting his backyard. In a matter of minutes, they learned the basic functions of the detector and were already finding coins.

Good luck with whatever machine you decide to purchase. I am sure you will love this hobby!

Welcome Kelsmom!!! I had an interest in this hobby many years ago but did not pursue it. Like you, I watched a show on detecting about a year ago and it renewed my interest. I ordered an ACE 250 and I have been so addicted and had so much fun with it. I work in a school so I have the summer basically free and I hunted almost every morning till it got too hot. I have my hubby swinging an ACE now too although he is not as enamored as I am. I have found a gold ring, a tiffany watch and an 1891 indian head penny!!! Of course also found enough clad to pay for one ACE so far. It is a fantastic hobby, if you can ignore having your friends laugh at you!!!

Where are you located?

Thanks for all the info. I am so excited about starting. I have enjoyed reading all the info on this forum. I did worry about what people would think especially a woman doing this but I was glad to see women on this forum as well. I will let you know what I get when I rent the md and go. Hopefully it will be within the next two weeks.
By the way, I also teach cntrydncr1 and I live in TN.
