Thanks for all the replies...
Here is where i stand..I was going to get the ACE 250 but the wife gave me the green light to get whatever i wanted too...(Man i love her)
So i had it narrowed it down to three: Fisher F75, Minelab X-Terra 70, and the Whites XLT... (i did look at the MXT as well)
I have spent the last few hrs looking over the manuals for the Fisher F75, Minelab X-Terra 70, and the Whites XLT.. Out of those three, the XLT looks like it is the easiest to operate and i like the screen and the target id on it...The only concern i have is how it will fuction in this AZ heat..(it reaches temps of 120 and up around here in the summer) It gets so hot you pray the wind does not blow, becuse when it does it fells like a blast furance... And is the XLT any good in this desert sand and hard rocky soil.?.
Any input would be great...

I have a friend that swears by the x70 with the 18 hz 5x10 coil for gold. Light too.

HI Space Weaseal and WELCOME to TQ !
Tough Decision to Make so I would say Talk to the Sponsors here. The DFX is a Great Detector but does have a Bit of a Learning Curve to It Tho once you master It It is a Deadly Weapon to use. All great choises in The MXT, XLT, Exterra 70 and the Soveriegn. I would look at the Weight Factors and Coil Options as part of your decision. As far as the Temps Go... Most Detectors that I have had say they are OK at Operating Temps to 110 degrees. I would get in touch with the Manuf. of what Detector you get and ask them about Temps higher then that just to cover yourself as far as warranty issues. Don't know if it would make a difference but better to know and be Safe then Sorry. Make sure Ya have plenty of water around and watch for Critters. Sounds like Ya have a fabulous place to hunt. Let us know how it all goes.

Good Luck & HH
The TINMAN

Welcome SW! I've ordered a DFX - and hope to use it for some serious "multi-purpose" hunting...I only have experience with Whites machines (I use a Prizm III at this point) - but have nothing but good things to say about Whites quality and reliability.

Good luck on your PRIME hunting area - I'll be looking forward to seeing your finds!
