Hi cvalleygirl and welcome to TQ, alot of friendly, helpful and knowledgeable people here and I'm sure some with BH's will chime in shortly!

Most detectors will hunt if you take the time to learn what they're telling you and have the patience to keep at it the good finds will come. Good Luck!

Default one of kellcos

your machine is listed by kellco so it should be a good one. They don't sell junk like others. Good hunting and welcome

Hi cvg and welcome to TQ! All detectors will hunt and the Bounty Hunter line is a well known line with an excellent reputation. It is mostly up to you and how well you get to know the machine. Like every new hobby, this one takes time and patience but once you understand how to the detector reacts, the finds will come.

If you don't have a manual for your Lone Star, click here: http://www.metaldetector.cc/producti...erLoneStar.pdf

Study it, try some of the test exercises that are in the manual then get out there and try it out in a playgrond or even your own yard!

Take a look at our Metal Detecting Tips area for some great information!

Good luck and if you have any other questions, just ask!
