Newbie with a new Garrett GTI 1500
Hello everyone and thank you for all the postings. Plenty of reading material I'm finding useful already.
Got my first ever detector, a Garrett GTI 1500 Thursday and Friday I joined a local club here in San Diego. So far I've only found a few dollars in some loose change a couple spoons and a few bottle tops and pull tabs and some other junk but have only tested it on the beaches. If anyone else has one of these babies, I'd love to chat about your experience with it. I will get out some more in the near future. I think it's a great machine and I'll soon master it and hopefully learn and develop other techniques with the forums help. Too all, happy, safe hunting. Ernie

Welcome to TQ Ernie!
Glad to have you here.. The GTI 1500 is a nice machine,I run one myself.. keep working with it and youll find some nice stuff.. Get used to the pinpointing but dont always rely on imaging for true size.. dig everything! Hope to hear more from you and your finds!! good luck

So far I heard mostly good stuff about the GTI 1500. I did a little homework before buying into it. Just wish I started this a log time ago.
Anything you can share? How long have you had it? Depths you've dug up stuff with it? Where do you search with it? I've tested the unit in my garage and it detected coins of various sizes through a 2"x4" up to 8 or 9 " away. I figure it should be detecting up to a foot in sand and at least 7-8" in dirt. Anyway I will find out soon what it is capable of.
