Hi, Cheryl, and a welcome as big as Texas for you!
Glad that you found us! As for your question, if you are worried about interference with your detector because of something in your body, I don't think that will be an issue. The coil, which is what sends and receives the signals, is too far away to pick up anything other than what is directly above or below it. Every detector will pick up metal. Some do a better job at discriminating between silver and iron, for example. Others can do a better job at finding gold than some machines. It really depends on what you want to find and how much you want to budget for a machine. There are very good machines for tight budgets and very expensive machines for those who want to buy the most advanced technology available. Good question, though! We have a lot of information for people who are new to metal detecting and we like to help people who are just starting out so please feel free to look around at the site features and to ask anything that you want and we'll do our best to set you on the right path! ![]() Last edited by Steve in PR; 04-15-2008 at 11:00 PM. |

Welcome Cheryl, one warning about metal detecting...it's addictive.!!
Most metal detectors will pick up titanium, not very deep though and won't hit very hard either. I'm not sure about in the body...if it's big enough and the sense in high enough I'm sure it will but..I've never tried it, in fact I've not heard of anyone who has. Time for an experiment?
