Default Hello from Colorado

Hello from Northern Colorado (Fort Collins),
Brand new to Metal Detecting but have been lurking on this site for awhile trying to pick up tips and just reading the interesting posts. What a great bunch of people it seems, belong to this group. I just bought a Whites MXT 300 and have it out about 10 hours. Still learning the machine but so far I like it. At first I was digging some pretty big holes finding my "treasure" ( made the wife a little unhappy the first day I had it in the back yard) but have managed to get my "plug" size down to a reasonable diameter. I don't know if this area is hunted out or not. Any tips or tricks are certainly welcome.

Welcome to the site Laider! Glad to have you on. You may want to go to some tot lots. The ones with the sand and or bark chips. Practice your pinpointing there. Holes are very easy to fill. Also reread the manual. You would be suprised how much you skim the 1st time.

Getting out and hunting a bunch is practice in itself. It gets easier with time. Good luck to you and happy hunting, Beale.

Hi, Laider, and welcome to TQ! I am glad you decided to join. We like people to take a look at the site and join if they like what they see!

You sound like you are getting to know your MXT and I am hoping you will find some nice finds to share with us real soon.

Take a look at our Tips section and I am sure the other MXT owners will be there for you if you have any questions about the detector!
