Hello and welcome to TQ and metal detecting. It's a great hobby. The 250 is a great machine along with the others you mentioned. I opted for the Fisher F2 mainly because it comes with a small 4 in coil. It has not dissappointed me either, it's another great machine. More people seem to be using the 250 though, you can't go wrong with either.
Again, welcome and have a grea time hunting, I do! Last week I found two silver dimes (1911 and 1916 and a 10K gold men's ring - my best week yet.
