Default Newbie here from Maryland

Hello

I recently purchases a Famous Trails MD 3005 Metal Detector. Does anybody here have one of these? Are they decent? I'm a little confused as to treasure hunting. What exactly does tone and discrimination do? How come when I placed a dime in my grass, I scrolled the metal detector over top of the area I had dropped the dime and the metal detoector didnt pick it up? Just want to make sure I'm using this properly before I start some serious hunting.

Thanks

Welcome to the site FA780! Glad to have you join us. I know we have a couple members that have the same brand detector.

I general you want to rub low discm and high sens. If you discm to high you will make targets dissapear to your detector. Sens is a bit more picky. To low is not good and too high can cause false signals. You may want to try thr "middle" and go from there.

Good luck to you, Beale.
