Default Intro from Geode and a question please

G'day!

Thanks for having me. I am George and live in Far North Queensland Australia.

I have had passed on to me from my father a Bounty Hunter Red Barron from the 1970's. What we have been trying to do is to make the RB lighter as most Metal Detectors these days are much lighter to handle. A mate of mine who is very good with electronics has found the Red Barron to have two different power levels. The A side uses the most power B is much less. I hope there is someone out there to help because i would have to carry two 12 volt batteries and that is defeating the purpose. Has anyone managed to modify the power supply to be lighter and more ergonomic?

All hints would be great as I am not the spry young man I used to be, and really that limits the amount of fun I can have if it is too heavy.

I am sorry if I should have put my question in a different place... being new i am not sure where it goes. So please bear with me.

Cheers

George.

Hey George welcome to the site! I really can not help you with the electronics of your detector. I would like to say though that we are glad to have you on the site. I wish you good luck with the detector, Beale.

Hi, George, and welcome to TQ! I am glad you chose to join us!

I hope someone can chime in and help you with your question.

We are not real strong on the technical end of things. I would suggest that you might have more luck with your question on Findmall's technical forum.

Having said we are not strong on the technical side, we are strong on the information and technique side and we have quite a few features the other site don't. Take a look around and don't be a stranger!

Welcome to TQ from down under! It's so exciting to hear that you got a machine, I've heard good things about the RB from others so I'm sure it will treat you well. As for re-working it, I honestly haven't a clue! The fact that you even figured out what was going on inside is much further than I've gotten. But I wish you the best of luck and hope to hear more about what you do with the RB!
