The value of something means different things to different people, even though I havnt found anything worth a big amount of money, I get pleasure out of finding the little treasures that speaks of a history of a town from days gone by or a civil war relic that was held by a soldier on his last day in this life. A bullet that missed its target or a compact lost by someone 80 years ago. Some people here are fortunate enough to have found class rings or cell phones that were of value to the owner but not so much to the finder so they have found the rightful owners and returned to them, thier lost treasures. There is value in that act of kindness. Myself I have picked up a syringe at a playground and disposed of it properly before a child stepped on it possibly infecting them with a life threatening disease. To me it was more valuable to find that needle then to have found a ring. I value my time metal detecting because I find it a peaceful and interesting hobby and if one day I get lucky enough to find something of monetary value yes I will certainly do the happy dance but if I dont then thats ok cause Im doing something that I enjoy and Im meeting great folks on TQ and that to me is the real value of life. Im babbling now this probably wasnt the answer you were looking for, but your question made me think for a moment and this is what came up with. G-girl

Hey colbrianlect gald you like the site. Lots of good info on the site.
Things of value. Yes you can find value and in many places. I have 2 items that I have found that I value. One is my only gold ring. It has dollar value, but I value it because I found it. My second item has very little money value. It is a bus token for the town I live in. I found it in my wifes grandmothers yard. I like to think she dropped it and I found it. To me it is valuable. To a collector, not really. So yes it is a great hobby. I bet your 1st item you value may suprise you, Beale.
