Question Platinum

Just curious, any idea on whether or not you can find Platinum in nugget form. Or only in lode form. I have no idea,
Thanks,
John

Hey, those nuggets look too much like those pesky blobs of Tinman that I end up throwing away!

Platinum is found as placer, The Tulameen / Silkameen River complex in British Columbia Canada has a good amount of platinum. Nuggets are rare, anything over 1 grain in weight brings big money. Anything 1 gram or larger, is EXTREMELY RARE !! Platinum is also found in the Ural Mountains of Russia, nuggets, especially cubic crystal nuggets , of the Ural's, are worth big bucks. The last place is Columbia South America, some nice nuggets from there, have been appearing lately.

Thumbs up

Hi Yardog,
I am not 100% sure but I think I read somewhere the largest Platinum Nugget found was in Russia somewhere at around 21oz.
I have heard of 7 + gms and I do know someone personally that found 3 pellet size one in Leanora West Aust. He sold 2 of them to a museum in Victoria and kept one, that is where we looked up to see what size nuggets had been found.
Sure would be nice to find as my wife wears nothing but white gold as she is allergic to natural gold.
Cheers and Beers.

Platinum is found every blue moon where I pan. As stated before, Vary small nuggets! First time I seen one, I thought it was gold with mercury on it.
