There is excellent glacial gold all across NY state. I specialize in glacial, rather than lode/placer. It is best recovered using a slightly different approach than one uses in a gold belt area.

My prospecting partner is the author of, what I consider, the pre-eminent glacial gold recovery book - Bar None! His name is Chuck Lassiter, and his book is titled "Midwest Gold Prospecting" (but it applies perfectly to any northern state which received glacial meltwater.) I have personally proven every technique that he explains. The book is very easy to understand, and loaded with excellent photos and drawings. It is available from Amazon, or directly from his website at Midwest Prospector

I'm honestly not trying to sell his book for him (it does very well on it's own), BUT anyone who lives in a state like NY, PA, NJ, IN, IL etc. can definitely recover a substantial amount of gold, using only hand tools, if the use the techniques he explains so clearly.

Heavy Pans,
faaus

Thanks for the insight. I never thought about glacial gold when I lived in NY.
