Kent, that key chain is a micro cache, used for geocaching. At least that is where I have seen them. They are available here...

Plymouth Vermont was home to Vermonts first gold rush, The rooks mining company took out an undisclosed amount of gold, mining the headwaters of Buffalo Brook, until the gold veins pinched out into barren slate. The US government, never was able to determine the amount that was recovered, although they did know it was substantial, because it all went to Canada, and the Canadians wouldn't tell them. Buffalo still contains placer gold, as well as many other brooks, streams and rivers in Vermont. Most of the gold is "glacial" gold that came in from Canada, way back, and is continuously eroding out of the glacial till. The largest single nugget, ever found in VT, weighed a whopping 30 troy ounces !! It was found in the West River, in the 1800's and was melted down years ago. There is a 1/2 ounce nugget on display in Perkins Geology Museum, at the University of VT, in Burlington. It came off Gold Brook in Stowe, and was donated to the university. I have seen this nugget first hand, and have prospected on Gold Brook, and there is gold there !! Rich.
