I have never used the MXT. But it should be better than the old Gold Master & I think was the best gold producer in it's time. The diggers that were finding gold were useing a GM. It was noisey but if you paid attention to what it was telling you it would find gold. It worked for me. Good Luck

SoCalShooter,
I've owned the MXT, GMT and now own a Gold Bug 2, Tesoro LST and the Vaquero. The MXT would be good for the So CA Desert, where I've spent a lot of time nugget hunting. You can switch from one mode to another, and cover the different conditions and types of hunting there, nugget, relic hunting, ghost town, and even down on the beaches. It has an excellent discrimination, and handles extreme mineralization well. I use the Gold Bug 2 most here in CO because of the fine gold, whereas the MXT could only handle gold down to 3-4 grams in size, on the other hand, the MXT detects gold deeper than the others that I've used. If you want to start with a simpler, less expensive machine, try the Vaquero. Sometimes simple is better, whereas you concentrate more on the ground than on the controls. Best of luck in that desert, I found a lot of gold there, even some platinum. Ken/CO |
