Glad you had fun in NC! I know that a number of Sapphires are fluorescent under SW UV.... There nat still be a chance for you to find your prize sapphire...
Also know the tricks the gem mines use... One of the favorite ones was to keep a bucket of $3 cut gems, and when you presented your $50 find, they would tell you to go to lunch, come back, and they's have it cut for you.... They'd pocket the item and replace it with a cheap but flawed inexpensive stone.
You were lucky to get away with your finds!

Hi Tom,wish i had known of the uv light before.We sold the place and the new owners bulldosed the area were i lost it.A shame the saphire was 6 ? sided crystal about 2 inches long by 1/2 inch thick.I was told it could have been a star saphire.

Hi Everyone:

A buddy of mine found a quartz crystal with a gold cube in it. The cube itself was maybe 3mm square and maybe 2mm high. The crystal itself was about an inch and half long and maybe three eighths of an inch in diameter. It had yellow overtones so it was probably the variety citrine. I could tell you where it was found but then- I'd have to kill you.
