Default Thought I found my pot (rock) of gold

While I was out detecting one of my favorite places two days ago, I had noticed they have hauled in some new dirt and rock. As I was walking along I saw this strange looking rock, my detector didn't pick it up...I waved it over it and it still didn't pick it up??? It has the gold coloring, my pictures may not give the true color??? But I am posting pics...I read one of the posts below and I took a straight pen to it, I pressed inward, couldn't tell if I was making any progress, so I started scraping and after about 4 or 5 scrapes I did notice a few specks came loose....So I am not sure what this is...I guess fools gold....No nothing about minerals...Was wondering if fools gold can be picked up with a detector????

Any ideas what I have??????
Pat

Looks like gold to me Pat, get back there and look for more

I used to find fools gold along the rail road track but it ran through the rock in veins.

Not sure where they brought it in from...but that will be a question I will ask....First time I have found anything like this...

I will be checking those rocks again, on my next hunt, might be more Even if it is fools gold I could probably pull a good one on someone with it!!! lol!!! Course I would have to tell them the truth later

My brother's thought it was funny one day when they threw an arrowhead down on the ground in front of me on our property and as I was looking there was another and another!!!! I see a chance to get them back!!! lol

We have a nice big creek in the back

I hope they at least let you keep the arrowheads ! If so the last laugh is on them ! Next time see if they can toss down a few 1800's coins !

Default looks to me like ....

a type of flakey gold ,, i see a lot of this at my spots , where i look .. i thought ,i had found a mother load of gold in a big chunk of quartz,, it look like gold more than any thing i had found ,, i got home and put some heat to it to see if it would melt ,, no gold dollar for me ..it is just a tight gold flakey mineral .. stuff ,, and a metal detector dont pick it up ,, but finding that ,, force me , to go ahead and buy a detector ..

Oh, I let them have them back I think I am going to have fun watching them look that creek up and down for signs of gold, but who knows they might just find some and then the laugh would sure be on me!!!

They and a friend were going to try and be sneaky and plant a large silver coin that was pure silver or had 1 ounce or something like that, it was a nice coin and have me dig it up!!! I told them, they did that and finder's keepers from now on!!! They did give the coin to me!!! I guess they picked enough!!! I did tell them to plant them coins I would dig them up and just add them to my collection, if they went to all that hard work

Reminds me of the time I took a couple of those fake lottery tickets and gave them to my mom and her cousin, boy you should have seen their faces, one was for 1000 and the other was for 10,000....I am waiting to see what they have burried in their yards for me!!!!

HH to ya Rip!!!

Lookin Man, thanks for your input!!! Still wondering if anyone has any fools gold or pyrite I believe it is called and if it can be picked up with a detector, not sure if this is what you are saying that it is just fools gold, I would like to add my detector's battery had ran completely down and I need to recheck it when I get the time to stop from all my (Rat killing) or things I need to be taking care of at the moment...Boy no time to stop and smell the roses!!! lol!!! Hoping to get the chance to get some detecting in before this week is out!!! Everytime I turn around got something new to do!!! Taking a break!!! Reading post's.......
