Default just a question

I have been hunting without headphones does it make a difference? Someone told me that you get better depth with them. Somebody else told me they are just for when groups go out so all the noise is filtered. Should I use them? or not.

I'm not an expert on the subject , but i believe it keeps outside noise out and also lets you hear the faint signals better , it just helps me pay more attention

Yes you should cause ya can hear more of what the detector is telling ya .Things that are deep give off faint sounds and ya want those too.

Besides that, they hide my big ears.
Good one Boobie ! I have to use them as there permanatly attached to my detecter ! But i usualy just wear them around my neck.It Depends on what detecter you have,my cz-20 has the same signal weather the target is 2 inches or 12 inches deep.Deeper coins will give a broken sound but basicly the same.I know The older tr detecters though will give faint signals. Also using headphones will give you longer battery life on most detecters.

Headphones adds depth?

Depends on the detector. Ace 250 Belltone either sounds or not, same with the lower tones. Headphones wouldn't make any difference, unless you want the volume control option. I use headphones because of having a threshold tone that can fluctuate on my CXIII.

They do get you more focused on detecting, and are a big plus for pinpointing if you use them though.

I also have an Ace250 and use headphones. I have found that there is a very faint tone that could be missed without the headphones. This is only when I use the pinpointing, specifically when I am narrowing down the pinpoint area. Has anyone else experienced this with the Ace250?

Thats most of why i dont wear em,if it is warm enough to hunt, there to warm. With my volume full i can still hear well.Alot of places i hunt is in areas were the topsoil is pretty thick and the average depth of coins is around 6-8 inches but i have found a spanish 1/2 real at over 10 inches,So i'm still getting good depth. It also helps that i prefer to hunt places were there isent alot of noise and distractions. One of the best things about detecting is being out in the great outdoors preferably as far from civilization as possible ! The "force" is with me !

Headphones? I wouldn't be caught without them! Also get the best quality headphones you can afford, borrow if you have to but get the good ones. Happy hunting and hello chuck.
