Coil question

I currently have an 8" coil on my White's 6000di. What would the benefits be of using a smaller coil, say a 4"?

A 4" coil would weed out coins in trashy areas and will enhance the depth of your detector finds in these areas. I sure you will get more feedback on this post

i use a whites 3.5 its about 4" in tite trashy area it will pay off.
but e carefull just cause it says 6.?? for the freq. there are 2 one for the older whites series 2 and 3 and one for the pro series. i heard they arnt the same but you might want to give whites a call. they dont make them anymore but still plenty around.
