Coil size and sensitivity?

I'm sure it depends on the MD, but as a rule:

If I hunt mineralized soil quietly at 50% sensitivity with a stock coil (8") and then get a larger coil (10") to search the same site; will I have to turn the sensitivity down even lower, possibly negating any potential depth gains by using a larger coil?

With a 4" coil I guess I will be able to go the same or higher on the sensitivity and get better target separation with somewhat reduced depth?

my current detector does not have a DD option, only 4, 8 and 10". You can bet my next detector will have a coil alternative
