Default Questions about Detectors

I have a question I have been pondering. I have experienced this in other areas as well and wondered if it was just me or if it has happened to y'all as well.

When having two of the same products, why does it seem that one will consistently out perform the other? For example, my Garrett GTA 350's. I have two, one I bought from Ebay,
(I know.. But I needed it for a bunch of kids to use at my son's elementary for a demonstration the school had me put together and wasn't going to buy a new one for them to destroy. Costed only $45.00 and I figured I could always use it for spare parts.) and another I bought from Kelly Co. for $179.00 a while back.

The Ebay detector seems to out perform the other in all hunting situations. I even sent my Kelly Co detector in to Garrett, and it came back with a clean bill of health so to speak. So why would one out perform the other?? I even switched batteries with each one and switched battery packs and coils. No matter what, the Ebay detector seems to go deeper and is better all around.

Neither detector has been abused since they have been in my possession. In fact, the Kelly Co. was new in box. Makes me wonder if the previous owner was some kind of electronic genius and they "modified it" to make it perform better.

Default Tried that Boobie..

The Kelly Co Garrett seemed to miss deeper targets than the Ebay Garrett. Thought at first it was a fluke, but the difference has been to consistent.

Yesterday, the Kelly Co missed a Morgan $1 at 6". The Ebay hit on it and gave a solid reading. That was what was making me question it as I normally use the Kelly Co Garrett for all my hunting. We found the Morgan $1 in my wife's flowerbed with the Ebay when I was showing Zack (my son) how to reset back to the factory settings.

I bet I passed over it five times with mine and no reading at all. It was set at factory settings as well. Zack passed over it once and it gave a reading... Loud and clear. I was thinking to myself there is nothing there cause I swung mine over the spot again and nothing. Then, as we dug it up, I was thinking there was nothing there because I already searched the flowerbed throughly. I was wrong and surprised that it was there. Makes me wonder what else I might have missed while using the other one. Both Units had fresh batteries as well.

I'll post the Morgan Dollar tomorrow after my camera batteries charge. It is Zack's first dollar find..

Default Already bypassed Kellyco

I have already sent it in to Garrett and explained the problem. They said detector I sent them checked out okay.

My main complaint is both detector do not perform the same... Kinda like have two identical vehicles..One just handles better than the other. Also there is no back light for night hunting on either one. I think I could get used to that feature as a lot of times I have the opportunity to night hunt but do not do so because of the fact that there is no back light.
