Default 3rd MD the charm??

Hi everyone, Hope someone can tell me what I've been doing wrong to go through 2 metal detectors in as many months. They were both Bounty Hunter Lone Stars. I used the first one for 2 months and found coins and a piece of jewelry(not expensive). Then one day it started beeping uncontrollably whenever turned on. I changed batteries called the co. and they told me to try a few things. Nothing worked. I took it back to the store and got a replacement. Well the second day it started beeping uncontrollably in all metal mode and then absolutely nothing in other modes. Wouldn't react to any coins at all. I couldn't believe it. I tried it in different areas etc. grrrr. Can't believe my luck. I took it back to Bass Pro yesterday and upgraded to another replacement. Same brand but a hundred dollars higher. I am committed to that store since I have the credit there. They have only BH machines. The one I have now is a Prospector DX says its a professional machine. lol How long before I mess this one up? I'm losing my confidence and my money. Do you think taking it on my scooter would have anything to do with it? I have it in their carry bag and on a cushiony rug on the back of my seat. (Don't try to picture this unless you want a good laugh). Help!! I'm scared to touch my new machine now. Thanks for any advice, Debbie

I'm just kiddin you Debbie but try buying a name brand detector and I think some of your problems will go away. If I can be of help just PM me or call. I'll be glad to help you out. Default Yeah, not my scooter!

Thank you Chuck for the fast reply. I wish I could try another brand and I probably sometime down the line. Just can't afford to do so yet. In the meantime I will be taking extra precautions with it. ty again, Debbie

Don't give up,Debbie. Keep practicing and see what happens. it has been very dry around here, that has been my problem lately. I've been waiting for some rain before I called you, so we could find a day to get together. Now it is raining I will call you soon, ok.

I don't think the scooter is the problem either. I put mine in the trunk of my 67 firebird and it rides like a tank. LOL. good luck with the new one. Later Kent

Sounds like they sent out a bad batch of detectors!!!! lol!!!! Just kidding, not an expert here, but the same thing happened to my friend with my bounty hunter, She was doing fine and then she changed the batteries, hers just kept beeping erratically,,,,when she changed the batteries back, it was fine, don't know about you changing different modes and then nothing happening, but make sure you don't have your sensitivity turned all the way up and make sure you are using alkiline batteries, or change detectors....Sorry if some of this is misspelled!!! lol!!!! Good luck, and also make sure you are not around powerlines, that could be the problem....
Hope you figure it out!!!!

HH

Default Coil Cover?

Does your machine have a coil cover and do you pull off the cover and clean it? If not, try that.

Debbie, if you have problems with the 3rd detector, I would go back to the store and ask for my money back and then find a local dealer and stay with a Name Brand such as Whites, Garrett, Minelab or Fisher. Hopefully that doen't happen and you do good with your new detector!........HH..................Joe
