Default About MD Clubs?

Does any one belong to MD Clubs? I found a md Club in SC it is about 3 hours from where I live and only meet once a month. I am Wondering if It would be worth the drive. I have been md for a quite a while but have so many Questions and would love to broaden my knowledge and meet people who actually MD. My friends all think it is cute that I treasure hunt. thanks

I think it is good to be in a club, you meet like minded people, see what they are finding, and ask as many questions as you like (although you can do that here) you may be able to go out on a hunting trip with others, that can be real good fun. So if you don't mind the travelling then I would say GO FOR It.

Default Getting creative

You might have to get creative. Find metal detecting stores near you and ask if they can put you in touch with others in your state or neighborhood who has bought metal detectors. If you tell the store your trying to put together a club they might be open to helping you get in touch with these people.

Default Md'ing Clubs

I have started and operated many many MD'ING CLUBS over the years and have found that they have all been worth it. So much information to be gained and the friendship of other MD'ERS.

WHY NOT consider starting one yourself in your area. Do a little research and find out who all is interested in starting a club.

The way I usually started a club was to place a free add in any papers around town ( Such as Trader, Free Add and such ) sure your town has one and see what kind of response I got by phone and start from there.

Gordiesgirl, If you are talking about the club in Rock Hill there are some seasoned diggers in the club. I do not belong to this club mainly for being on the road alot and not in town on tuesday evenings. I think if you have the time you might want to go to a meeting just to see. They also do a news letter for members(or they use to). They also plan a few hunts a year. Hope this helps

Default that is the club

Yes Outlaw that is the one I found on the net. I might just drive out to see what it is about and if I think it will work take Pappy's advice and advertise for local hunters to see if we could get one closer to home started. I am not sure if it is the same club but there is also one in Greer, SC and I have no Idea where that is. I am a transplant from MA. Thanks

Greer is actually closer to you it is towards Greenville. So have you been to the Chittlin Strut yet? It is the biggest thing in the area. And being from Ma. you might not want to ask what they are.

Default Outlaws

I actually have lived in SC almost 6 years. Yup The Chitlin Strut quite the thing around here. I sell the tickets for the chitlin plates and as soon as all the tourist leave I am the one mding the grounds. I have been all over the lower state but havn't really traveled much of the Greenville Anderson way. My son is in Iraq right now but station at Fort Brag. In November when he comes home We are heading up that way for a week. I will get out the map and check out routes to Greer and York Hill decide which is best and contact them thanks for the help.

Gordiesgirl, a 3 hour drive......................................sounds like a trip on the S.S. MINNOW...............................you may want to go to at least to few meetings and a few of their outings so to give you ideas on forming a more local club! Most detectorists will not travel that far consistently for a club meeting. I helped form a club back in the 1980's and was their founding President, so If any help is needed please ask for my help!.................HH...............Joe
