Default My new detector is here!!!

My new ace250 showed up yesterday. I read the manual, watched the video twice. Did a bench test and everything works just fine.

Found 15 minutes on the way home from work at a local park. The detector was working just fine 3 tin cans and 1 screw top. Oh well nobody said it would be easy.

The ground here in Michigan is as hard as a rock. The lack of rain and heat is making things around here tough.

Default Better luck the 2nd day

Went to 2 local parks this morning to try out the new ace250. At the 1st park I found a chunk of iron, 1 screw cap , a quarter and a penny. Also broke the wifes garden shovel. Opps. The 2nd park I found a screw cap, several pull tabs and a key ring w/ 2 keys. It was a nice way to spend a hour.

I came up with a few questions.

1. I noticed that I would get multiple signals on some of the passes. But they would not signal again on a return pass that is to say going from one direction i would get the signal but when I came back across it on the return swing there was nothing.

2. Could the high trash content of the area give false coin signals. I have not purchased the sniper coil (Yet) but would this help filter out the mulit signal passes or it it in the sensitvity settings. I had the setting at 3 or 4.

2 observations

1. I see the value of having a handheld pin pointing device. I'll have to look into that.
2. I will be ordering a GOOD shovel

Bottom line is this was a blast. A very enjoyable way to spend a few hours. I'm hooked.

What Boobie said You are doing the right thing. You have to get out there and swing that thing to learn it.

Default Pinpointing

Pinpointing can be a bear with the Ace250 in the beginning.

The way I pinpoint is:

On the stock coil, while holding down the pinpoint button, swing over your target and try to find the center, now, while still holding your pinpoint button down, slowly pull the coil back away from the center of your target, just as the signal fades, stop, your target should be just above the inner coil.

Throw a penny on the ground and try this method. It will put you amazing close to the target. Since I have been using this method my only recovery tool has been an old screw driver .......... but every now and then I wish I had a pinpointer in my back pocket ............. LOL

Hope this helps a bit
