When I found my "first" big find, 1910 Barber Dime..my husband suddenly became interested. Before the dime all I was digging up was just trash, junk, and clad. I don't think he relized what acutally could be found with a detector. So we now have 2 -Ace250's, but we don't really go MDing together a whole lot. I wanted a hobby to have some time for myself and get away from life's stresses.

My husband's hobby is music...I spent the first 10 years of our lives together watching him when he played out with his band on weekends and sit at home listening while the band practiced in the basement during the week. My kids were born with his musical talent and I sit and listen to them now. I have no musical ability whatsoever, so my family thinks it's only fair that I have a hobby that they have no interest in but can sit quietly and watch me do. My own groupies!!!

My wife really has no interest in detecting, she does like to look over my finds and sometimes lays claim to something. She did detect for an hour last year at the beach but didn't find anything. I think this year, I'll ask her to try it one more time and I'll drop a ring or other piece of jewelry in her path!

Would you mind driving by here and throwing a couple of nice pieces of jewelry in my yard?

Oh I'm not picky...doesn't have to be anything you've found...purchased jewelry looks just as pretty!! As long as it's sparkly and I can pretend to detect it...works for me
