pinpointers

The Garrett detector I am looking at, at Kellyco, also has a deal on a pinpointer for $45-49. Is this really a good thing to have, or kinda a gimmick? I never used one with my other MD so I really don't know. Any advice would be a big help. Thanks in advance.

I jusy purchased an Minelab Explorer II in December and they gave me that same pinpointer your speaking of. It was nice but way too big to be carrying around, it was 18 inches long and 3 or 4 inches wide. I then sold it.

I never did use a pinpointer but may purchase the Vibra-Probe to give it a try

Bill....pinpointers are Great devices especially when your digging away and can't seem to find the target by waving your coil over the hole, plus they help prevent you from ruining the object your digging for!

I joined this forum this evening and this will be my first reply to a post. I have a Vib-Probe by Wizard, ( it came with the unit I purchased) I've only used it a couple of times the problem I have with it is, it has to touch the item your looking for and by that time I've usually spotted the target so I don't bother to take it with me anymore. You guys might check out the Treasure Mate pin pointer. It only weighs 6 oz. It will sound off with LED/speaker or LED/vibrate. I have not used one of these so I really don't have an opinion.They are available at treasurewest.com

Gregory, sorry I didn't get back to you, no mine is sold onwww.wizarddetectors.com for about 45 dollars I think, but this is the only one I've had I'm sure there are better ones out there where you don't have to actually touch the target.

I have a vibra probe 560 and love it. Waterproof and easy to carry. A probe can come in handy when you are using a large coil. Ever go to dig a target and lose the signal after you disturbed the hallo. Thats when a probe comes in handy.
