Default Denver, what BH...

model are you using? Just curious.

My DH SSII has found CW bullets 6" down and dime at at least 4".

Have heard great stuff on the ACE250. Good luck whatever you do.

I am using the Discovery 3300 made by Bounty Hunter for Radio Shack. Got one when they were going cheap and have been very pleased with it. I have found all kinds of coins Barber, Walking liberty, Franklin halves, silver dimes, silver quarter, gold class ring, NC Confederate sunburst button, haversack button, musket ball, fired lead, all kinds of clad and relics. Very confident on the depth to 6 inches and have pulled some even deeper. I think it mostly depends on your locations you are searching. Good locations make all the difference. Do your research and pick good spots and you will be rewarded. Good Luck.

The BHSSII set me back $200. I would not have purchased for the full retail of $350.

I will post my findings when I put it head to head with my buddies ACE250. The ACE is the other detector that was in my budget. I did not find out enough about the two prior to purchasing and have always wondered....

Post Suggestion for training

When I had problems with my bounty hunter breaking I went and bought another MD @ $100 which didn't seem to work. So I devised a test that can be very useful in training.
Buy a box of kitty litter. If you don't have a cat, get the cheapest possible. Place the box in a place where you know it is clear of targets and open the top. Then put in targets at known depths. Change the orientation of the targets. That will give you the worst condition depths and let you hear the tones to expect.

A new coin in fresh dry soil is the toughest to detect.

Just out of curiosity - if you do this test or some similar, let me know about dimes. Dimes seem to rattle my brains when I run across them with the headphones on. I get depths of 10 - 14 inches sometimes! Far more than any other coin.

By the way, the other MD didn't work at more than 1 inch. Back it went.
