I have the Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202 and it can find coins but It's not for serious detecting in my opinion. There are some Bounty Hunter machines that are just fine though just not sure on the model names.

Default I Do!! I Do!!

Of course, I'm just a newbie, and I got my machine as a bday present from my kids, so maybe that's why I love it so much. But I do love it just the same. I've got the Pioneer 202. Like JC said, it's great at finding coins. I took me awhile to learn the machine but I'm getting pretty good at listening to the blips and comparing them with the screen and knowing just what I'm looking for.

Maybe it's not as fancy or professional as the machines everyone else here uses, but it's a great learning machine and good starter model!

I have bounty hunter 101 and a radio shack made by bounty hunter. I actually like the radio shack one better.

I met a fellow with a 129.00 Bounty Hunter that was able to average a 1.63 an hour anytime he went detecting with it!!! Pretty good I would say.

Default I have a Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 made for radio shack.

People who reviewed it said that it is a decent machine but at full retail it was a little pricey. I say you have to spend 350-400 to get the same features. So yeah i like mine to the point where the next step up is
X-terra 50 or better. I find all manner of coins, artifacts, and jewelry. Found some merc dimes in a heavily hunted, read hunted out, park. I think that if you can get a deal on one they make for great starter detectors, most of the bounty hunter line. What happens is noobs complain that all they find is junk when they first start out before they can read a machine. Well welcome to metal detecting, you will find junk and pennies, cough cough. My 2 cents.

kkfry is absolutely right! It's all in how well you learn your machine. I know a few people who have worn out their bounty hunters because they use them so much. If it will find metal...it's all good.

I use and still learning on my sharpshooter-II I think it is a good stick for the money to start learning the hobby with. don't rush, dig everything at first untill you think you know your beeps & tones. Last yr. I found a small ladies toe ring, that was down about 8 - 10 inches, I was going to give up on the hole when I took one more shot at it and there it was.
