Tell him that all that food that you cook is yours and then 1/2 yours again, if he doesn't like this math, then tell him if you can keep the quarter the food rations stay the same.

Wink

Just toss it in a field, wait a couple days then see who finds it first.

But I think technically it belongs to person swinging the detector.

I believe that when the decision was made to seek the services of a second party to provide the labor required to extract said quarter, that a verbal (or at the very least an implied) contract was entered into by both parties...therefore the party of the second part (kkfry) is entitled to seek reasonable remuneration for the amount of time expended in order to extract the item.

The question then becomes what is considered reasonable remuneration? In most cases, a reasonable cost assignment to a labor function is to determine the per hour (plus fringe benefits) cost for the service provided (in this case, let's say excavation) under the federal prevailing wage rate for your county in Pennsylvania. For estimation purposes, let's also assume that the rate is 36.00 per hour and 11.00 per hour for fringe benefits - setting the the total hourly rate at 47.00 per hour - or 78.3 cents per minute. Assuming further that the party of the second part labored for 3 minutes in performing the extraction, you would owe him $2.35 for his time.

A logical and expeditious resolution would be to give him his 12.5 cents - since the party of the second part has un-arguably proffered his verbal agreement to accept said sum.

I really should be a lawyer - I haven't rolled out that much BS in years!

kk & toye, one of you better grab EPC and the other one JC for representation. I think this is going to wind up in court now that kk knows he could be eligible for more than 12.5 cents

Put the quarter towards the $1250.00 towards relational counselling since you guys are still fighting over it. I think this is going to be brutal!
